We’ve managed to get our hands on some old WW2 era film, some in colour, that we are getting scanned and restored (my mac pro has been rendering for 9 days cleaning dust from the first piece of film we’ve had scanned). “The Shores of Iwo Jima” will be the first film we have available, a colour documentary from 1945 shot on Iwo Jima. It has the whole flag going up (for the second time) on Suribachi.

From Nick and I, all the best for the new year and a very happy christmas.

Angus

The start of another season... Its very strange in July being able to look ahead to November and know what I’ll be thinking about.

My life is mapped out in a series of podcasts!

All the best,
Angus

We’ve managed to do our first video podcast! Yay!

To add to our library we spent a day at Scarborough castle with the Northern WWII Association, taking pictures and doing a bit of filming, with our new camera, we are still leaning its limitations so we are suffering “jello” with it. But we’ll get that sorted.

We’ve also got a promo almost ready to go of a series (probably occasional) called timelines, our first will be the 21st Panzer, Rommels spearhead unit.

If you have any feedback on the video or suggestions let us know, as we are still feeling our way through.

All the best,
Angus
We are now very close to the end of season six, the final episode has been written so Nick just needs to record it and we are done!

Hopefully in the hiatus between seasons we’ll be busy trying to put together our first video podcast. We’ve purchased a small video library (thanks to anyone who has donated, that is where the money has gone) and I’m off out filming in a couple of weeks!

Heaven knows how long it will take to to together, with no deadline it allows for a lot of fiddle time, so it could be a while! We’ll keep you posted.

Don’t forget if you have any suggestions for season seven, send them in!

All the best,
Angus

Last week I got into an email conversation with Mike over at fallschirmjager.biz, I was looking for some decals which when they arrived I was very pleased with, they really do look good.

Mike suggested we have a look at old time radio, it was something I had looked at in the past for a podcast but I was stopped by the idea that all music after 1925 was still covered by copyright. Well after a look at what is in the public domain I think it could be a winning idea.

Literally thousands of hours of old shows, speeches and news reports are available, we don’t have to fill up a podcast with old music! I’m sure the old new reports will be more enlightening anyway!!!

So watch this space, hopefully next week I’ll get some time to start picking through content and working on a outline for a show!

Angus

Picture from: www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu
